Sui processes its first native quantum-safe transaction on devnet
Mysten Labs co-founder Kostas Chalkias announced that the Sui devnet has processed its first native quantum-safe transaction using ML-DSA-65 signatures, ahead of a targeted mainnet rollout in 2027.

Mysten Labs co-founder and chief cryptographer Kostas Chalkias announced that the Sui devnet has processed the network's first native quantum-safe transaction, sharing the on-chain transaction record. The milestone utilizes ML-DSA-65 signatures, a NIST-approved post-quantum scheme designed for everyday user accounts. Devnet transaction data showed the successful transfer was recorded at checkpoint 264,197 on Oct. 13, 2026.[1][2]
The implementation rolled out in Sui Devnet release v1.82.0, enabling signed transactions to be submitted through the ExecuteTransaction API and verified with the VerifySignature API. ML-DSA-65 is also supported for multisignature transactions, alongside integration into GraphQL and the Rust SDK. Users will reportedly be able to switch from existing recovery phrases without transferring their assets or paying extra gas fees.[1][2]
According to Sui's roadmap, native ML-DSA-65 accounts are scheduled to reach the network's testnet by the end of 2026. Core developers are targeting native account authentication on mainnet for the first quarter of 2027, subject to security testing and audit results. Crypto Briefing characterized the move as a major step toward heightened blockchain security that could shape future cryptographic standards across the industry.[1][2][3]
