Morgan Stanley delays tokenized equity trading launch to Q1 2027
Morgan Stanley has pushed the rollout of tokenized equity trading on its alternative trading system from late 2026 to the first quarter of 2027 to align with broader industry developments and infrastructure readiness.

Morgan Stanley has delayed its expected rollout of tokenized equities on its alternative trading system (ATS) to the first quarter of 2027, shifting from its previous target of the second half of 2026. In an interview with The Block, Morgan Stanley Head of Digital Asset Strategy Amy Oldenburg explained that Q1 2027 is "probably more realistic" to align with wider developments across the ecosystem, adding that the team is "definitely actively building it."[3][4][6]
The timeline revision comes as the bank continues preparing its underlying blockchain and proprietary wallet infrastructure. According to reporting by Wu Blockchain and The Daily Block, client demand currently remains limited because tokenized equity offerings are not yet widely available in the market, prompting the bank to await stronger institutional participation while monitoring industry shifts.[1][2][3][5]
Despite the postponed trading launch, Morgan Stanley is pursuing multiple tokenization initiatives in what Oldenburg described as the "securitization of everything." The investment bank has received conditional approval for a digital asset custody and staking trust, is launching a Digital Asset Lab to examine onchain products, and sees future opportunities across tokenized funds, structured notes, and private shares. Oldenburg projected that the tokenized real-world asset market will reach between $3 trillion and $10 trillion by 2030.[2][5]
