Advanced Micro Devices and Meta are expanding their strategic partnership to power Meta's superintelligence infrastructure, backed by a $1 billion investment from AMD into Meta's equity offering. The Wall Street Journal reported that AMD is the first major name to participate in Meta's broader plan to raise up to $95 billion via stock sales to finance its artificial intelligence buildout.[1][2][4]

The tie-up scales the hardware collaboration between the two companies to gigawatt levels, according to market analyst reports. AMD Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su confirmed that the chipmaker's Helios rack-scale AI systems are already running at Meta, where initial units are undergoing testing ahead of a wider deployment. The collaboration builds on an earlier 6-gigawatt GPU deal and includes expanded software integration across ROCm and PyTorch.[3][4]

Meta already operates millions of AMD EPYC processors, which power workloads including its Muse AI agent, while AMD Instinct GPUs handle production training, ranking, and recommendation systems. As part of their future roadmap, Meta is developing custom Instinct GPUs with AMD, plans to deploy a custom MI450-based Instinct GPU tailored to its workloads, and serves as a lead customer for AMD's 6th Gen EPYC processors.[3][4]
