Stripe taps Privy CEO Henri Stern to lead crypto push and expand stablecoin cards

Stripe has appointed Privy co-founder and CEO Henri Stern to lead its crypto and stablecoin division, outlining plans to expand its stablecoin card program to more than 100 countries by year-end and launch a dedicated developer platform.

Stripe has named Privy co-founder and CEO Henri Stern to head its crypto and stablecoin business as it prepares a major global rollout, according to reports from CoinDesk. Under the strategy, Stripe aims to expand its stablecoin card program to more than 100 countries by the end of the year. Stern, who founded the wallet platform Privy prior to its acquisition by Stripe in June 2025, confirmed that he will continue leading Privy alongside his new executive responsibilities.[1][2][3]

Stern stated that Stripe plans to build a comprehensive stablecoin developer platform integrating fiat and crypto rails, digital wallets, payment processing, and asset issuance. He noted that the company will focus on utility, interoperability, and end-to-end user experiences while prioritizing open systems and regulatory compliance to simplify stablecoin integration for commercial enterprises. In addition, Stern said Stripe is actively exploring tokenized deposits and decentralized finance use cases.[1][2][4]

The international card expansion is intended to broaden everyday payment options using stablecoins across international markets. According to Coin Bureau, monthly spending on stablecoin cards recently reached approximately $1.2 billion, a threefold increase compared to the previous year, as Stripe's infrastructure serves more than 5 million businesses directly or via connected platforms.[4][5]
