Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko says public companies resisting stock tokenization should go private
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko criticized public U.S. companies that oppose the tokenization of their shares, arguing that publicly traded firms must permit investors to trade wherever they choose.

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko stated that publicly traded U.S. companies pushing back against tokenized stock trading ought to take themselves private. Responding on social media to reports regarding corporate opposition to tokenization initiatives, Yakovenko argued that public listing comes with an obligation to let the market choose its trading venues.[1][2][3][4]
"They should go private then. If they want to be publicly traded then they should allow the public to trade them at the venue of their choosing," Yakovenko posted on X under the handle @toly.[1]
Yakovenko's remark was prompted by a report from Watcher.Guru claiming that 33 major U.S. companies oppose having their shares tokenized on crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange's (ICE) planned platform. An excerpt included in shared screenshots identified IBM among the opposing companies.[1][4]
