Alphabet reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of approximately $127.6 billion, up 25% year over year, but delivered earnings per share of $2.12 that missed consensus analyst targets clustered above $3.00. The company's bottom line absorbed an $8.7 billion net unrealized loss on equity securities, translating to a $0.55 hit to EPS, while free cash flow finished at negative $9.1 billion amid $51.4 billion in capital expenditures. Alphabet shares tumbled roughly 9% in post-market trading following the release.[2][3][8][10][11][12]

While top-line performance matched some lower forecasts, revenue fell slightly short of broader consensus baselines, including Bloomberg's $128.22 billion estimate and Reuters' $128.2 billion target. Google Services brought in $96.3 billion against estimates of roughly $98.4 billion, weighed down by misses in Google Search & Other at $63.4 billion and YouTube advertising at $11.2 billion.[1][3][4][11][12][13]

The bright spot emerged in Google Cloud, where revenue surged 103% year over year to $30.7 billion, outpacing expectations of around $29.1 billion and generating $11.1 billion in operating income. Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai credited strong demand for Google's AI infrastructure and TPU systems, noting that first-party model APIs now process nearly 32 billion tokens per minute. On the earnings call, Pichai highlighted that AI is directly accelerating Google's training and launch velocity, stating that he expects continued acceleration from RSI over the coming twelve months.[2][3][9][14][15]
