Pinterest shares tumbled more than 8% in after-hours trading after the visual discovery platform posted third-quarter financial results and a holiday forecast that fell short of Wall Street targets, according to Barron's and market updates from Wall St Engine. For the third quarter of 2026, revenue increased 12% year over year to $1.17 billion, below the consensus estimate of $1.21 billion. Adjusted earnings came in at $0.46 per share versus the $0.48 anticipated by analysts, while adjusted EBITDA reached $339.2 million, up 11% year over year but shy of the $347 million expectation.[1][2][3][4]

User growth remained a bright spot, with monthly active users climbing 10% year over year to 661 million, topping expectations of 653 million. Global average revenue per user rose 1% to $1.80, while U.S. and Canada ARPU reached $8.38, slightly above the estimated $8.36. Regional revenue diverged widely: U.S. and Canada sales grew 14% to $894 million, beating projections, but European revenue remained flat at $193 million against expectations of $216 million, and Rest of World revenue gained 24% to $87 million, missing the $108 million estimate.[1][3]

For the fourth quarter, Pinterest projected revenue of $1.43 billion to $1.48 billion, representing 8% to 12% annual growth but trailing consensus estimates of $1.52 billion. The company guided fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA between $538 million and $588 million, below the $612 million forecast. Pinterest leadership stated that differentiated AI-driven visual search and shopping experiences are increasing its value to users and advertisers, emphasizing ongoing efforts to scale performance advertising solutions and convert discovery into durable growth.[1][3]
