OpenAI unveiled more than 20 new products and updates at its DevDay 2026 conference on September 29, according to reports from Axios and developer roundups. The announcements signal an aggressive expansion across autonomous workflows and enterprise tooling, highlighted by persistent personal AI agents named Dots, an Agents API with computer use support, and a new $500 monthly speed tier.[6][10][12][15][9]

A major update lets ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers route their existing subscription plan usage directly into third-party tools via Sign in with ChatGPT. Reporting from The New Stack and tech updates noted that 16 launch partners—including Devin, Vercel, Notion, OpenCode, Amp, and Warp—draw from a user's shared weekly allowance, though one launch post originally cited over 60 partner products.[8][11][2][14][7]

OpenAI also broadened ChatGPT into a workplace and developer platform, introducing ChatGPT Space with native documents, slides, and spreadsheet apps. Developers can now build native conversational applications using plugin extensions that run on MCP and automatically surface in relevant chats, while TechCrunch reported that Codex expanded into the cloud with reusable development environments, a voice-controlled CLI, code review tools, and a repository security scanner. For enterprise buyers, an OpenAI Marketplace debuted with Figma signed on as an official launch partner.[13][5][1][16][10]

On the model side, OpenAI previewed its Luna-powered Decisions API, which The New Stack reported generates predefined answers with confidence scores in approximately 150 milliseconds. The company also rolled out GPT-6.1 Sol, which approaches GPT-6 Astra's performance on agentic coding and computer use benchmarks at one-fifth the token cost.[4][18][17][3]

ChatGPT just became a full developer platform, and OpenAI is rolling it out fast. OpenAI's Thibaut Citeo announced that developers can now build full native apps using plugin extensions and ship them directly inside ChatGPT. These apps won't just show up when users search for them. They'll surface automatically inside relevant conversations, putting them directly in front of users at the right moment. The extensions run on MCP and MCP apps, the same underlying platform OpenAI already uses internally to power features like meetings, health, and finance tools inside ChatGPT. OpenAI engineer Matt Stobier confirmed the plugin extensions are live now, with documentation already published at https://t.co/zRxXPr8hqb. That means outside developers get access to the same building blocks OpenAI's own teams use to build inside ChatGPT. Some are already comparing this to app store style distribution, except instead of a home screen, it's built directly into a conversational interface.

BREAKING: OpenAI announced 20+ products and features at DevDay. We've been testing the new products. Here are the five that matter most (to me): - Dots: Persistent agents inside ChatGPT that retain context and keep working over time (think OpenClaw, Grok Bots, and Muse) - Space and an office suite: A Google Drive–like place to work with your Dot, plus ChatGPT-native apps for documents, slides, and spreadsheets - Developer-built apps and discovery: Full apps inside ChatGPT—called “plugin extensions”—with a directory and automatic recommendations in conversations to help users find you. - Your ChatGPT subscription in other apps: Portable Plus and Pro usage, starting with about 15 partners. Separately, Marketplace is a catalog of approved partner software that eligible enterprise customers can purchase using part of their existing OpenAI spending commitments. - The Decisions API: Based on their Luna model, this could be the biggest of the five. It’s OpenAI’s answer to Jev, the buzzy new model that acts as a “smart if-then statement” and recently has taken over X. Plus: they're releasing Sol 6.1 (Astra, but cheap), Astra Ultrafast (Astra at a crazy 250 tokens/second), a $500 Pro plan, and a lot more. What I'm seeing OpenAI's platform play. OpenAI wants ChatGPT to become your operating system for work—documents, slides, and agents, all in one place on your computer. It also wants to let developers and startups build businesses on top of it. They've done a few takes on an app store, and because of ChatGPT-native apps I think this has the best chance of sticking. Dots. It's a familiar form factor if you're using Muse, GrokBots, OpenClaw, or Instinct. It's built right into the @ChatGPTapp sidebar and it has quickly become the main way I interact with chat. But: It's still very early, it lacks some features you might expect like the ability to text it through iMessage, and in my testing there were a lot of rough edges. It's not something you need to switch to if you like GrokBots or Muse. But it's nice that it's integrated directly into ChatGPT. If you love early products, you should try it. Otherwise I'd wait a few weeks for htem to smooth out the edges. Decisions API is sneaky big. In our testing, the Decisions API beats Jev on at least one dimension: It is multimodal, which means it accepts image input. It beat Jev on speed and accuracy on a few early tests but trailed on our broader evals. It’s being previewed today, and depending on the price, it could reshape the whole ecosystem.
