OpenAI introduces locked chats to protect sensitive ChatGPT conversations

OpenAI is rolling out a Locked Chats feature across free and paid ChatGPT tiers, enabling users to safeguard sensitive conversations behind a PIN or biometric authentication.

OpenAI is rolling out a new Locked Chats feature designed to give users a secure way to hide and protect sensitive conversations within ChatGPT. According to The Hindu, the capability is intended to help users maintain privacy when using shared screens or devices accessed by multiple people.[3][5]

The feature is arriving across ChatGPT's Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans, according to TestingCatalog. Users can tuck conversations away into a dedicated protected space, securing them with a PIN on web and desktop applications. On mobile devices, users can unlock the protected chats using a PIN, Face ID, Touch ID, or standard device unlock options.[2][4]
