Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang dismisses fears of 2029 memory chip glut
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that an oversupply of memory chips by 2029 is unlikely, downplaying market concerns following a recent sell-off in memory stocks.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang dismissed expectations of a memory chip glut by 2029, asserting that market demand will continue to absorb rising capacity. Speaking to CNBC's Arjun Kharpal on the sidelines of Nvidia's GTC Berlin conference, Huang addressed questions over whether rising production could saturate the market, responding "I don't think so" regarding the chances of oversupply.[1][2][3][4]
"One of the things that's really great about memory is that you can always use more of it," Huang said, pointing to growing low-power DDR memory usage across data centers. His remarks followed a question referencing a South Korean newspaper opinion piece on Samsung and SK hynix that warned new supply could turn the memory sector into a "red ocean" by 2029.[3][4]
The comments arrived after memory equities fell under pressure due to fears of future oversupply and slowing demand. Amid the broader supply landscape, Huang also noted that he remains open to collaborating with Chinese chipmakers.[1][4]

$NVDA Jensen Huang: Surplus of memory supply is unlikely by 2029. The CNBC question referenced a Korean newspaper opinion on $KOSPI / Samsung / SK Hynix that predicted "new supply will leave the memory sector a red ocean in 2029." "One of the things that's really great about memory is that you can always use more of it", Jensen said, citing LPDDR usage in DCs. And responded "I don't think so" in terms of possibilities of oversupply in 2029. Just my personal opinion, Nvidia probably has the most visibility in the entire industry. Especially around supply procurement and emerging capacity, given they're the ones leading all the architectural shifts. On durability, you have Samsung already allocated majority of capacity into 2031 from SED and hyperscalers like $GOOGL are already reportedly securing memory LTAs into 2035 from KeyBanc. Yet there's endless "it's all over" sentiment on memory now. I'd probably trust Jensen's opinion here.
