Shortly after the post went live, the token's market cap spiked to approximately $40,000 before crashing more than 70% to around $3,580 minutes later, according to price data shared by social media user @jussy_world. Front Office Sports reported that the token was launched on the platform Pump.fun, and the post was quickly removed from the NBA's profile.[1][3][2]
The stunt followed a similar breach in March 2025, when the NBA's official X account was compromised to promote a token under the same ticker, @jussy_world noted.[2]
