MetaMask adds Stellar as a default network across mobile and browser extension
MetaMask has integrated Stellar as a default network, generating Stellar addresses for eligible accounts while requiring a minimum XLM balance to activate accounts and avoid fund losses.

MetaMask has integrated Stellar as a default network in both its browser extension and mobile application, according to reports from BSCN and Cointelegraph. Announced on October 29 at Stellar's Meridian conference in Lisbon, the rollout enables eligible multichain accounts to automatically receive a Stellar address tied directly to the user's existing secret recovery phrase. The addition allows users to store, send, and swap native XLM and other Stellar-based tokens alongside assets on other supported networks.[2][3][4][5]
To activate a new Stellar address on the network, accounts must receive an initial balance of at least 1 XLM, BSCN reported. Reporting from CryptoSlate also noted that MetaMask requires users to hold at least 1 XLM alongside an additional 0.5 XLM per unsponsored trustline. Users were warned that attempting to bridge assets to Stellar without fulfilling the XLM reserve requirements risks a loss of funds.[1][2]
Cross-chain bridges connecting to Stellar continue to require manual configuration by the user, CryptoSlate added. Furthermore, receiving assets like USDC on the Stellar network necessitates that the user first fund the account and manually complete token activation.[1][4]

MetaMask makes Stellar a default network @MetaMask added @StellarOrg as a default network in its mobile app and browser extension, announced today at Stellar’s Meridian conference in Lisbon. Eligible accounts now carry a Stellar address tied to the recovery phrase users already have, letting them hold, send, and swap stellar:native and other Stellar tokens next to assets on other networks. Stellar has run as a public payments network since 2014, settling transactions in about five seconds for a fraction of a cent in fees. A new Stellar address becomes active on the network once it receives at least 1 XLM.
