Meta unveils camera-free smart glasses, $1,299 VR eyewear, and Muse Charm AI gadget

At its Connect 2026 conference, Meta unveiled camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, lightweight $1,299 VR glasses, and a keychain device called Muse Charm to expand its Muse AI agent across hardware.

Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg kicked off the company's annual Connect conference with a broad refresh of its wearable hardware centered on its Muse AI assistant. Leading the announcements was the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, Meta's first pair of smart glasses without cameras, starting at $349 and providing up to 12 hours of battery life. The camera-free design aims to address privacy backlash over wearable filming, though Reuters reported that the glasses still record audio without an external flashing indicator to signal recording. Alongside the audio frames, Meta debuted its third-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses starting at $449, adding improved battery life, an additional microphone, and Dolby Atmos spatial audio recording.[1][2][4][5][8][9][12][14]

Meta also revealed the Meta VR Glasses, a 100-gram virtual reality device scheduled to ship in spring 2027 for $1,299. Designed to undercut heavier headsets like Apple's Vision Pro, the wearable achieves its lightweight frame by offloading its Snapdragon Reality Elite processor, battery, and storage to an external tethered pack, which provides roughly three hours of battery life. The glasses house 5K micro-OLED displays with full-color passthrough and dispense with handheld controllers completely, relying instead on hand, eye, and voice tracking alongside support for photorealistic hologram calls.[7][18][21][23][24]

In a surprise reveal, Zuckerberg introduced the Muse Charm, a Tamagotchi-style 5G keychain device built for on-the-go voice interaction with Meta's AI agent without needing a phone, computer, or glasses. The palm-sized gadget features a roughly 2-inch screen and a fingerprint sensor to initiate conversations, with Meta targeting a December launch for the holidays. Meta also announced it is integrating Muse Voice across its smart glasses lineup, enabling computer-control capabilities on Mac, and rolling out shopping and productivity integrations with partners such as Walmart, Best Buy, and Sephora.[3][6][10][13][15][16][17][20]

It has a roughly 2-inch touchscreen, built-in 5G, and a fingerprint sensor you press to start talking to it. It lets you interact with Meta's Muse personal AI agent without needing a phone, computer, or glasses, and can send emails, book travel, shop, fill out forms, manage schedules, and complete tasks. Zuckerberg called it a "joyful little device." It ships in December, in time for the holidays. Meta also unveiled new VR Glasses at the same event. They weigh 100 grams, cost $1,299, and are set to launch Spring 2027. The glasses house the displays and sensors, while a separate puck carries the processor, battery, and storage, running on a Snapdragon Reality Elite chip with a 5K display and full-color passthrough. Battery life is about 3 hours with 45W fast charging, and they support eye and hand tracking, hologram calling, and streaming hundreds of Xbox games. Key numbers: - Muse Charm: ~2-inch touchscreen, 5G, ships December 2026 - VR Glasses: $1,299, 100 grams, Spring 2027 release, 3-hour battery Meta's Muse AI agent itself was first introduced on September 8, 2026, rolling out across iOS, Android, and the web.

Meta just unveiled its VR Glasses today. Here's what you need to know. At Meta Connect 2026, Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta VR Glasses, a headset built to look and weigh like ordinary eyewear instead of a bulky visor. The glasses hold the micro-OLED displays and sensors, while a separate tethered puck carries the Snapdragon Reality Elite processor, battery, and storage. Zuckerberg called it Meta's first time delivering VR in glasses rather than a full headset, positioning it as a private cinema, a multi-monitor workstation, and a game console in one. In demos, it ran close to Apple Vision Pro quality at under half the price and about a sixth the weight, with a tabletop virtual hand-tracked keyboard on any flat surface. The device runs Muse, Meta's AI agent, as its central interface, letting users talk to it directly. Meta's Alexandr Wang said Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Wayfair, Notion, Ulta Beauty, Dick's Sporting Goods, Fanatics, Box, and Granola are integrating with Muse for shopping and productivity. Key numbers: - Price: $1,299 - Weight: about 100 grams - Display: 5K micro-OLED - Battery life: about 3 hours - Release: spring 2027 Meta says the hardware is on track to be sold without taking a loss.
