Intel has achieved a key construction milestone at its Ohio semiconductor site by installing the first major structural truss, allowing construction to begin taking shape above ground following a multi-year pause.[2][3][6]

Despite the headway, CNBC reported that the Ohio fabrication facility is at least five years behind schedule. Originally slated to begin producing chips in 2025, the $28 billion development now targets production around 2030 to 2031. Once completed, the site is designed to accommodate two advanced semiconductor factories.[2][3][6]

The company also highlighted advancements across its wider, long-delayed U.S. factory expansion. Intel is finishing up a facility in Arizona, having installed production tools at Fab 62, which is targeting an operational timeline of 2028 as demand for AI hardware rises.[1][4][5]
