Elon Musk stated that his business empire will build and operate the Texas Terafab chipmaking venture independently, quashing speculation that industry leader Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. would step in to manage or operate the complex.[2][5][6][10][11]

The project has committed $16.8 billion to its first phase alone, with the facility intended to manufacture semiconductors powering Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI. While ruling out TSMC running the site, Musk left open the possibility of a cleanroom sublease at the Texas facility.[2][4][7][10]

Intel also confirmed it remains committed to the venture. Intel Chief Executive Officer Lip-Bu Tan said the chipmaker will continue working with Musk on Terafab, with Intel reaffirming its 14A process node deal to maintain its strategic foothold in the competitive AI chip manufacturing sector.[1][3][4][8][9][10]

Elon Musk says Terafab will be built & operated in house shutting down speculation that $TSM could run the Texas project while leaving open a sublease. That’s great for $INTC because Musk can use 14A process tech while still controlling wafer capacity needed for $TSLA & $SPCX. https://t.co/MYbstvVSVT
