Hackers leak personal data of more than 41,000 Homeland Security personnel online
Personal details and contact information of more than 41,000 Department of Homeland Security employees and contractors have been published online following a major data breach.
A hacker published the personal details of more than 40,000 U.S. Department of Homeland Security staffers online, according to TechCrunch. The compromised records span names, job titles, phone numbers, and email addresses of thousands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, and other DHS employees, The Verge reported.[1][2]
Reporting by WIRED detailed that the exposed records cover more than 41,000 employees and contractors. Beyond personal contact information such as workers' cellphone numbers, the leaked files reportedly disclose the locations of ICE and CBP facilities alongside members of specialized groups connected to wiretap programs, Palantir software, and xAI's Grok chatbot.[4][6]
The leak emerged after hackers claimed to have breached the Department of Homeland Security's Okta login system, according to reports aggregated by Techmeme citing WIRED. Separately, Polymarket reported that the data drop included contact details and identities for nearly 6,600 ICE agents as well as more than 21,000 Border Patrol and Customs personnel.[3][5][7]
