South Korean crypto exchange Gopax suspends services to move assets to cold storage
South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Gopax has halted trading, deposits, and standard withdrawals to shift customer assets into offline cold storage following security threats.

South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Gopax has temporarily suspended trading services, deposits, and standard digital asset withdrawals as a precautionary security measure. According to notices and reports from outlets including The Block and Cointelegraph, the platform made the decision in order to transfer customer assets from hot wallets into cold storage.[2][5][6][7]
In an official notice, Gopax stated that deposits and app-based withdrawals were suspended effective Nov. 6, 2026, at 14:55 KST. While automated withdrawals via the web and mobile app are unavailable, manual withdrawal requests remain possible through the exchange's customer support center. The platform also scheduled a temporary suspension of customer trading services.[2][7]
The platform cited recent data leaks and security incidents across financial institutions, alongside recommendations from financial regulators, as reasons for taking preemptive measures. In addition, outlets including Crypto Briefing and Watcher Guru, as well as analyst Crypto Patel, reported that the suspension followed a hacking threat email sent to the exchange. Crypto Patel noted that no confirmed breaches or customer fund losses have occurred. Gopax, which secured investment from Binance in 2023, has not yet announced a timeline for resuming normal operations.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
