Galaxy Research says Bitcoin bear market ended in June as accumulation phase begins
Galaxy Research reported that Bitcoin concluded its bear market in June 2026 and has shifted into an accumulation phase, pointing to reclaimed moving averages and depleted seller inventory as signals of an attractive buying opportunity.

Bitcoin has officially moved past its bear market and entered an accumulation phase that has historically preceded price advances, according to Galaxy Research. The firm highlighted that the cryptocurrency held its 200-week moving average and has closed above its 50-week moving average for five consecutive weeks. Additionally, at day 916 of the halving cycle, Bitcoin is past the historical window where previous cycle bottoms took place.[1][3][4]
Market positioning indicators also show declining sell pressure. Basis traders and macro participants have trimmed their ETF and futures exposure by more than half, while monthly transfers of coins held for over five years dropped to roughly 34,000 BTC from 67,000 in 2024. Galaxy noted that after falling 35% from its October 2025 peak and rebounding 39% above its June 30, 2026, low, Bitcoin traded at $81,391 on October 22.[3][4]
Despite calling the environment an attractive buying opportunity supported by currency debasement risks, Galaxy maintained a level of caution. The firm stated that its bullish outlook would weaken if Bitcoin drops below its roughly $76,540 50-week moving average and fails to reclaim the level within a month. A recent pullback left the asset roughly 4% above that critical threshold ahead of an upcoming Federal Reserve rate decision.[1][2][3][5]
