The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) rolled out its Tokenization Service via subsidiary The Depository Trust Company (DTC) on Oct. 28, 2026, opening with 34 securities available to tokenize at launch. According to reports from Jacquelyn Melinek and Wu Blockchain, the launch basket includes selected large-cap Russell 1000 constituents, exchange-traded funds, and U.S. Treasuries, though DTCC has not publicly named the individual assets.[9][11][5]

Tokens issued through the service are backed 1:1 by underlying securities held in DTC custody and carry equivalent legal rights, ownership protections, and economic entitlements. DTCC's website notes that the platform allows round-the-clock, peer-to-peer transfers between DTC-registered wallets operating on the same blockchain.[8][9][11]

At rollout, the infrastructure supports Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network, with integrations for Stellar and Circle's Arc planned for 2027. Twenty major financial institutions have signed on to participate, including JPMorgan, Citi, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Citadel Securities, and Fidelity.[4][5][6][9][10][11]

DTCC said the service provides a practical path for mainstream securities tokenization. Crypto Briefing highlighted that while the system could improve market efficiency and asset mobility, its centralized structure constrains direct integration with decentralized finance.[3][7]
