Chainlink has launched CustodySync, an infrastructure solution designed to let eligible custodians offer institutional clients access to decentralized finance (DeFi) lending markets while keeping their digital assets held in custody. Anchorage Digital Bank, which operates the first federally chartered digital asset bank in the United States, is serving as the official launch partner and initial custodian, according to reports from crypto media outlets including BSCNews and Crypto Briefing.[1][2][3]

Through CustodySync, institutions are able to borrow against digital asset holdings without relinquishing custody control. According to BSCNews, the integration keeps custody and lending systems synchronized to avoid premature or delayed liquidations caused by valuation discrepancies in collateralized loans. Chainlink promotional materials accompanying the announcement framed the system around turning passive institutional capital into productive capital.[2][3]

BSCNews cited a market landscape where DeFi lending stands at roughly $80 billion, while approximately $700 billion in digital assets currently under custody accounts for only 0.5% of total custodied assets across the financial system.[3]
