BNB Chain plans high-performance EVM layer-1 alongside existing network
Updated BNB Chain documentation and remarks from CZ reveal plans for a parallel high-speed EVM layer-1 blockchain powered by BNB, with a public testnet targeted for late 2026.

BNB Chain is preparing to launch a new high-performance, EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain designed to run parallel to BNB Smart Chain, according to updated documentation and statements from Changpeng Zhao. Zhao characterized the strategy under a "multiple chains, one coin" vision, with BNB serving as the sole asset to power transaction gas, staking, and governance across the ecosystem.[1][2][3][4][5]
Connected to BNB Smart Chain through a native bridge, the upcoming network is targeting 200-millisecond block times and 20-millisecond pre-confirmations, reported Coin Bureau and CryptoSavingExpert. The architecture aims to handle high-frequency trading and real-time payments while advancing AI integration and closing performance gaps between decentralized and centralized exchanges. Additional planned features include native account abstraction and onchain privacy pools.[2][3][5]
Development has already progressed to an internal multi-validator devnet. BNB Chain targets a rollout of the public testnet in late 2026, followed by a full mainnet launch scheduled for early 2027.[2][5]
