Bitcoin approaches $87,000 one year after all-time high
Exactly one year after reaching a record $126,210, Bitcoin traded near $87,000 on October 6, 2026, holding monthly gains despite overhead liquidity pressure.

On October 6, 2026, exactly one year after reaching an all-time peak of $126,210, Bitcoin was trading near $87,000, according to commentator That Martini Guy and market reports. Bitcoin.com News reported that the asset maintained its October gains after surging above $86,000 twice during the month. Meanwhile, Coin Telegraph noted that Bitcoin was grinding toward $87,000, with upward momentum kept in check by overhead ask liquidity even as U.S. equities broke out to new record highs.[4][2][3]
Crypto Briefing reported Bitcoin trading around $85,300, roughly 32% below its $126,000 record, following a 45% rebound from a summer low near $58,000. An annotated monthly BTC/USD chart shared by That Martini Guy showed the price at $85,687.85 after touching an October high of $87,223.61, reflecting a substantial recovery after the 2026 sell-off.[1][4]
The 32% decline from the peak represents a notably milder downturn than previous market cycles, according to Coindesk, which observed that prior crypto bear markets saw prices plunge between 77% and 85%.[5]

Bitcoin hit $126,210 exactly one year ago today. Since then, we’ve had one of the nastier corrections of the cycle, but BTC has managed to recover all the way back to around $87K. We’re still a long way from the ATH, but I think the fact that Bitcoin has recovered this much after the 2026 sell-off is worth paying attention to. If BTC can get back above $100K, I think the conversation around a new ATH gets very interesting.
