Binance resumes crypto withdrawals in phases following 6.3 billion dollar exploit
Binance has started reopening withdrawals in phases across 15 networks after replenishing 95% of the estimated $6.3 billion stolen in a recent cyber heist.

Binance began restoring customer withdrawals in phases on Sunday, marking the exchange's first reopening of outbound transfers since suffering a massive $6.3 billion exploit. The initial phase was scheduled to begin between 06:00 and 09:00 UTC, while customer deposits remained operational throughout the incident.[9][7][2][8][12]
The exchange announced it has covered approximately 95% of the affected funds using its own reserves, stating that users will not absorb any losses. According to reports cited by Techmeme and businessline, the attack ranks among the largest digital heists recorded, with the FBI attributing the theft to North Korea. Major assets including BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, and SOL have been restored to 100% reserve backing, while the remaining 5% of the shortfall consists of less liquid tokens that the exchange is still acquiring.[8][12][13][15][1]
The phased rollout began with the Bitcoin network before progressively expanding to supported networks as individual security checks concluded. Binance quickly enabled withdrawals across networks including Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, and Base, restoring access to assets such as ETH, BNB, SOL, XRP, USDC, and USDT across 15 designated phase-one chains.[16][14][5][4][3][8][10]
