Avalanche has activated its Helicon network upgrade, introducing improvements that enable up to 100 times faster block verification, according to reports from Crypto Briefing and BSCN. On the network's C-Chain, verification times have dropped to approximately 2 milliseconds from about 210 milliseconds before the upgrade took effect.[1][2][3]
The verification speedup stems from a mechanism called Continuous Execution, which allows validators to reach consensus on blocks without first having to re-run every transaction. In addition, the upgrade lowered the minimum validator staking requirement on the network from two weeks to 48 hours.[1]
