Apple plans December launch for Apple Intelligence in China without new Siri AI

Apple is preparing to release Apple Intelligence in mainland China this December as part of iOS 27.3, relying on local partnerships with Alibaba and Baidu after extensive regulatory delays, according to Bloomberg.

Apple is preparing to launch its Apple Intelligence platform in mainland China this December via the iOS 27.3 software update, Bloomberg reported. The release follows a lengthy regulatory delay that has kept the company's suite of artificial intelligence tools out of one of its most critical international markets.[1][2][5]

The localized release will include AI features originally debuted in the United States two years ago in 2024. However, it will exclude the upgraded Siri AI powered by Google Gemini models.[1][2][3]

To navigate domestic regulatory requirements, Apple established guardrails with Alibaba that allow the Chinese government to approve model updates. The company is also collaborating with Baidu to power search and Siri features.[2][6]
