Aave V4 on the Base network has launched an equities collateral offering supporting seven Coinbase tokenized stocks, allowing eligible non-U.S. users to borrow USDC against their equity holdings. The supported assets include Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), Alphabet (GOOGL), Meta (META), Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia (NVDA), and Tesla (TSLA).[6][4][2][5][7][1]

Chainlink supplies the price feeds for the tokenized equities. According to commentary from Kook Capital, the feeds operate on a 24/5 basis and hold the last closing market print during weekends and holidays, leaving collateral health to drift only with accrued borrowing interest during market closures. At launch, the tokenized stocks serve strictly as collateral and cannot be borrowed directly, ruling out equity-against-equity borrowing loops.[2][5][1]

The integration arrived alongside a broader 10-day series of traditional finance tokenization initiatives highlighted by Coin Bureau. According to Coin Bureau's recap, recent institutional moves include the European Central Bank launching its Pontes settlement platform, an SEC Innovation Exemption for onchain stock venues, a pending NYSE deal with Blockchain.com, DTCC targeting a tokenization launch in the fourth quarter of 2026, and interbank tokenized deposit settlements by Lloyds, NatWest, and Barclays.[3]

Key facts

  • Aave V4 on Base added seven Coinbase tokenized stocks—Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla—as accepted collateral for borrowing USDC.
  • Borrowing USDC against the Coinbase tokenized stocks on Aave V4 is restricted to eligible non-U.S. users.
  • Chainlink provides 24/5 price feeds for the tokenized stocks, holding the last print on weekends and holidays so collateral health fluctuates only on accrued interest.
  • At launch, the tokenized equities can only be posted as collateral and cannot be borrowed, preventing equity-against-equity looping.
  • Coin Bureau reported that the SEC approved an Innovation Exemption for onchain venues trading tokenized stocks, and the DTCC is on track for a Q4 2026 tokenization rollout.
  • Coin Bureau also cited recent institutional moves including the ECB's Pontes platform launch, a pending NYSE-Blockchain.com agreement, and interbank tokenized deposit trials by UK banks.
