Aave founder Stani Kulechov considers token burns for Aavenomics 3.0
Aave is exploring an AAVE burn mechanism under Aavenomics 3.0, which would permanently remove repurchased tokens from circulation instead of retaining them in the DAO's treasury reserve.

Aave founder Stani Kulechov said the decentralized finance protocol is considering adding an AAVE token burn mechanism under Aavenomics 3.0, according to reports by The Block and Cointelegraph. Under its existing buyback program, Aave uses protocol revenue to acquire AAVE tokens, which are currently held in the DAO's Ecosystem Reserve treasury rather than destroyed.[3][5][2]
Transitioning to a burn model would take repurchased tokens out of circulation permanently instead of holding them in a treasury. Following Kulechov's remarks, AAVE jumped around 11%, though plans for the burn mechanism have not yet been finalized.[2][4][1]
