Sachin Katti, OpenAI's VP of Compute Strategy and GPT Infra, announced he is leaving the company after about a year to build a new venture. Katti, a former Intel chief technology officer who joined OpenAI in late 2025, stated he will remain as an adviser after Nov. 15, confirming earlier departure reports from The Wall Street Journal and CNBC.[2][3][4][8]

During his tenure, Katti said he helped secure double-digit gigawatts of compute capacity across sites including Ohio, Portsmouth, and Georgia, partnering with vendors such as Nvidia, Broadcom, AMD, Oracle, Microsoft, Google, AWS, and CoreWeave. Quartz reported that the leadership transition arrives as OpenAI raises its infrastructure spending forecast toward $750 billion by 2030.[2][3][7]

Uday Ruddarraju is taking over OpenAI's infrastructure and compute operations, Bloomberg reported. Ruddarraju, a former xAI executive who joined OpenAI last year and was promoted to chief technology officer of compute in July, is set to steer computing strategy as Katti exits.[1][3][5][6]
