Instagram has brought its video editing application, Edits, to macOS, marking the tool's debut on desktop computers. Positioned as Meta's rival to CapCut, the platform already has more than 50 million users, according to Engadget. The desktop software is free to download, though it requires a Mac equipped with an Apple silicon processor (M1 or later).[1][2][3][4][5]

The Mac version includes a multi-track timeline, advanced editing controls, color grading, and native Instagram integrations. App interface images show dedicated tools for audio adjustment, beats syncing, voiceovers, captions, and visual effects. When finishing a project, creators can export footage in resolutions up to 4K, frame rates of up to 60 fps, and SDR or HDR color profiles. The app also features a direct "Share to Instagram" panel allowing editors to write captions, tag collaborators, add locations, and select audience privacy settings before posting.[1][2][4]
