Crypto and AI stock perpetuals flash crash on Hyperliquid before rapid rebound
Bitcoin, Ethereum, and tokenized stock perpetual contracts experienced a sharp weekend flash crash on Hyperliquid before quickly recovering, triggering more than $51 million in liquidations.

Cryptocurrency and tokenized equities suffered a sudden flash crash during weekend trading on Hyperliquid as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and multiple AI and chip stock perpetual contracts dropped sharply within seconds before bouncing back. According to Crypto Rover, the abrupt moves occurred while traditional U.S. stock markets were closed and without an obvious news catalyst, prompting community debate over whether the event was a weekend liquidity shakeout or an early warning of a wider market selloff.[2]
The rapid swings left long wicks across decentralized order books. Trader Saanjana Nikita reported that Bitcoin fell approximately $1,000 in minutes before rebounding $1,200, while Ethereum dipped from $2,420 to $2,360 before climbing back to $2,410. AI and semiconductor perpetual contracts, including SOXL, SNDK, and MU, dropped 3% to 5% before recovering, alongside sharp dips in TSLA, NVDA, and SPCX. Tokenized SKHYNX also sank roughly 6% before reversing, according to yourfriendSOMMI.[1][2][3]
The sudden dip triggered $51.6 million in liquidations across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and AI stock perpetual futures, according to Analytics Insight, which noted that BTC and ETH funding rates remained near neutral amid mixed market sentiment. The weekend volatility followed a steep downturn in global equities the preceding week, during which the Nasdaq 100 and Nikkei each fell roughly 5% and the KOSPI tumbled nearly 14%.[3][4]

❤️💛💚💙 Tokenized Stocks crashed on weekend via HyperLiquid. They tried to price in huge panic... but were met with epic reverals. SKHYNX crashed (-6%) which they call an enormous Black Swan for stocks. Laughable. https://t.co/Q80q3rU2I5

BREAKING: Something very WEIRD just happened. Bitcoin and Ethereum suddenly dumped, while major AI stock perpetuals plunged 5% within SECONDS, then quickly bounced. No obvious news. U.S. stock markets closed. With onchain trading running 24/7, there’s no rest anymore. A weekend shakeout… or a warning before BLACK MONDAY?

weekend flash crash in crypto and AI stock perps now everyone's calling for a "black monday'' BTC dropped about $1,000 in minutes, then bounced $1,200. ETH went from $2,420 to $2,360 and straight back to $2,410. AI and chip perps like SOXL, SNDK and MU fell 3 to 5% before recovering most of it reversed fast. the leveraged longs didn't they were already gone and this didn't come from nowhere the week before was ugly. nasdaq 100 and nikkei down around 5%, KOSPI down almost 14% here's the thing though. when this many people are scared of a monday crash, it often doesn't happen. the fear gets priced in early. kobeissi even thinks the S&P could push for a new high if history repeats i don't fully buy that either. a weekend dump on thin liquidity doesn't tell you much by itself so i'm not watching the sunday wicks. i'm watching how asia opens tonight, especially KOSPI.
