BitGo launches Bitcoin staking through Stacks for institutional clients
Institutional custody provider BitGo has launched Bitcoin staking via the Stacks protocol, enabling eligible clients to earn native BTC rewards directly from custody accounts without bridging or wrapping.

Institutional crypto custodian BitGo has rolled out Bitcoin staking powered by the Stacks protocol, according to reports from Cointelegraph and crypto.news. The integration allows eligible institutional custody clients to earn yield denominated in BTC directly from their existing BitGo accounts.[2][3]
The setup avoids the need for asset wrapping or cross-chain bridging. Instead, client assets remain safely held in qualified custody under BitGo Bank & Trust throughout the staking process.[2][3]
According to crypto.news, participating positions are bonded for approximately six months. The staking mechanism also requires clients to commit an accompanying STX stake valued at 5% of their total BTC position.[2]
