Spot Bitcoin ETFs lose $430 million in broad crypto fund retreat
U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds shed approximately $430 million on November 5 as a broader technology stock rout triggered over $500 million in total crypto ETF withdrawals.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $430 million in net outflows on Thursday, November 5, ending a brief recovery in fund demand, according to data from SoSoValue cited by Crypto Banter and The Block. Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) led the withdrawals with nearly $200 million in redemptions, followed by BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which logged $104.97 million in outflows, according to Analytics Insight. None of the 12 U.S. spot Bitcoin funds posted net inflows for the session, CryptoSlate reported.[1][3][4][8][11]
The retrenchment extended across the crypto market. Spot Ethereum ETFs recorded nearly $100 million in net outflows the same day, led by BlackRock's ETHA shedding $75.2 million, according to reports by Wu Blockchain and The Block. In total, U.S. spot crypto ETFs saw between $511.9 million and $540 million in aggregate daily redemptions, with CoinMarketCap data showing additional minor outflows in Solana and HYPE products alongside zero net flow for XRP funds.[1][2][5][10][11]
The wave of withdrawals coincided with a sharp selloff across Wall Street risk assets. The Nasdaq fell roughly 5.5% and Bitcoin dropped 5.6% on Thursday amid investor concerns over AI spending, disappointing chipmaker earnings, and post-election political developments, Bloomberg and The Block reported. Coindesk noted that the pullback drove more than $1 billion in liquidations before Bitcoin bounced from around $75,200 to reclaim the $76,000 level on Friday as traders looked ahead to the latest U.S. jobs report.[6][7][9][10][12]
