Binance and its former chief executive Changpeng Zhao have subpoenaed television personality and investor Kevin O'Leary alongside author Michael Lewis as part of an ongoing legal battle over $1.76 billion linked to the collapse of FTX, according to reports from Bloomberg Law and crypto media outlets.[2][3][5]

The information requests also target a former Forbes staffer and accounting firm BDO USA. Binance and Zhao are seeking records in connection with claims alleging that funds transferred by FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried to repurchase Binance's equity stake in 2021 were fraudulent and derived from misappropriated customer assets.[2][3][6][7]

Binance and Zhao have denied wrongdoing and previously sought to dismiss the clawback lawsuit, arguing that responsibility for the collapse belongs entirely to Bankman-Fried. However, a U.S. bankruptcy judge ruled in July that the $1.76 billion recovery action could proceed, keeping the case alive and drawing high-profile commentators into the evidentiary phase.[7]
