Anthropic has begun rolling out a new Personal Finance feature within its Claude AI assistant in a U.S. beta, available to Pro, Max, and Ultra subscribers. The tool connects to users' bank and credit card accounts through fintech provider Plaid, enabling the assistant to surface insights into account balances and where money is being spent.[1][4][5][10][12][13]

The integration operates strictly with read-only access, meaning Claude cannot move, transfer, or invest funds. Anthropic stated that the tool is not designed to offer investment advice and will not include advertisements or sponsored recommendations. Instead, users can query Claude to evaluate spending trends, organize financial tasks, and track household budgets.[2][4][5][6][11]

The launch also drew friction from the startup sector. Decrypt reported that investor Anthony Pompliano publicly accused Anthropic of copying his financial AI startup, Silvia, while arguing that his product delivers superior financial accuracy.[3][7][9]
