Yuga Labs has launched Mudwater, a trading card collection that pairs physical Bored Ape Yacht Club cards with digital twins minted as Solana NFTs. Each digital item is backed by a physical card or sealed pack stored in a vault, according to posts by 0xQuit and DEGEN NEWS. Claims for the collection have opened to existing holders on the Mudwater portal.[1][3][2]

The inaugural release, titled the Swamp Origins set, features 120 BAYC art pieces distributed across 10,000 boxes, with foil, numbered, and eight cracked-ice 1/1 cards. Bored Ape Yacht Club holders can claim 10 packs per token, while Mutant Ape Yacht Club holders can claim two packs, with 10 cards included in each pack. The claim period runs until January 19, 2027.[3][2]

Trading activity in the collection incorporates a 2.5% fee mechanism that purchases APE tokens and distributes them to Mudwater holders proportionally based on their card balances. The physical cards are printed by OCAP Games on orange core paper, and totems, packs, and cards are tradable on OpenSea, according to Bored Ape Yacht Club and Wu Blockchain.[3][2]
