Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission has finalized regulations clearing the path for Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds to trade domestically, according to reports from Cointelegraph and The Block. The framework is scheduled to take effect on October 16, permitting crypto ETFs to list and trade exclusively on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.[3][4][7]

The Thai regulator issued 11 notifications establishing rules across fund management, digital asset custody, and investor safeguards. Under the framework, initial eligibility is restricted to Bitcoin and Ether funds. To qualify, funds must maintain an average net exposure of at least 80% of their net asset value to a single crypto asset.[1][2][3][6]

Asset management companies will still require direct SEC approval before rolling out crypto ETF products, as reported by BSCN. In addition, funds must store their underlying digital assets with SEC-supervised local custodians. Mandatory investor suitability assessments and risk disclosures will be required, and the products will not be offered through margin lending. According to Crypto Briefing, the rules aim to improve local market access and foster domestic financial growth while curbing reliance on overseas platforms.[1][5][8]
