Nvidia is holding early-stage negotiations to either acquire Reflection AI or expand its investment in the American startup, according to reporting from the Financial Times. Reflection AI focuses on the development of open-weight artificial intelligence models.[1][3][4][6][7]

The transaction could be structured as an acqui-hire to help steer clear of antitrust scrutiny. While a decision on whether to deepen its stake or buy the company outright could arrive in the coming weeks, the discussions remain preliminary and could fall apart. The Straits Times reported that the talks also involve a computing deal.[1][2][4]

According to market commentator Shay Boloor, Nvidia is exploring a valuation of roughly $25 billion for the acquisition, with Reflection AI already having committed around $7.3 billion in compute through SPCX and NBIS. Reflection AI's open models are positioned to compete against Chinese rivals, and bringing the startup into Nvidia's fold could give the chipmaker an open-model layer built directly on CUDA to anchor enterprise and sovereign AI workloads on its hardware.[5][8][9]
