Nvidia unveils OpenShell architecture to contain and monitor AI agents
Nvidia introduced the OpenShell Reference Architecture, a blueprint designed to secure, monitor, and enforce operational limits on autonomous AI agents.

Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang unveiled the OpenShell Reference Architecture, a framework created to govern corporate AI agents and keep them from crossing boundaries. According to reporting from The Register and Decrypt, the architecture provides a full-stack blueprint to secure, contain, and monitor autonomous software agents.[1][2][4][5][6]
The architecture pairs a software sandbox hosted on Vera CPUs with Sentry monitoring on BlueField-4 chips, Decrypt reported. The framework is intended to allow enterprises to deploy autonomous AI agents while enforcing system boundaries that the agents cannot bypass.[2]
Presentation slides shown during the unveiling highlighted over 100 partners advancing agent safety with OpenShell. Companies featured across the announcement include Anthropic, Amazon Web Services, Canonical, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google Cloud, IBM, JPMorganChase, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral, OpenAI, Palantir, Red Hat, SAP, Siemens, and SpaceX, alongside financial group BBVA.[1][3][4][5][6]
