The FBI has arrested another person suspected of being tied to the cybercriminal group ShinyHunters following a breach of bureau systems that exposed sensitive personnel data, FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Friday.[3][6][4][5][1]

The suspect, identified as a Canadian man believed to be one of the main figures behind the attack, was arrested in Pennsylvania, according to a New York Times report cited by commentator Mario Nawfal. ShinyHunters stole personal information on thousands of FBI employees last month through a system connected to the agency's jobs portal, later threatening to publish the stolen records unless the FBI withdrew a public warning it had issued regarding the syndicate's cyberattacks. Patel said the bureau will continue pursuing the group's remaining members.[2][3]

The arrest highlights an investigation where the bureau itself was the victim of a prominent cybercrime group. In addition to penetrating FBI systems, Polygon reported that the hacker organization's targets have included Grand Theft Auto.[2][7]
