An early Ethereum holder who bought ether around nine years ago deposited roughly 6,369 ETH worth $15.95 million into Kraken, sparking speculation over a potential sale.
An early Ethereum participant who acquired ETH nine years ago at roughly $14 moved 6,369 ETH worth approximately $15.95 million to crypto exchange Kraken on Oct. 14, 2026, according to on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain. Lookonchain stated that the investor was selling off the long-held position.[1][3]
Transaction screenshots indicate the main transfer to Kraken deposit address 0xD78 was preceded roughly 15 minutes earlier by a smaller test deposit of 1 ETH valued at $2,510. The originating wallet, beginning with 0x8ACF, had also interacted with staking services in recent months, receiving 8.166 ETH from Ethpool staking one month prior and 128 ETH from a Staked.us depositor two months prior.[2][3]
While exchange deposits typically signal intent to liquidate, market observers noted the final purpose remains unconfirmed. Commentator Justin Wu pointed out that moving funds to an exchange does not guarantee an immediate sale, though holding tokens since Ethereum traded near $14 marks an exceptional long-term holding timeline.[2]
