The Dutch central bank has granted an electronic money institution license to Amsterdam-based Qivalis, permitting the firm to provide onchain euro settlement infrastructure and prepare for the rollout of a euro-denominated stablecoin.[1][2][3][4]

Qivalis is backed by 37 major European banks, including BBVA, BNP Paribas, ING, and DZ Bank. To support the deployment of its onchain offering, the company has partnered with Fireblocks for digital asset infrastructure.[1][2]

The consortium plans to issue its euro-denominated electronic money token (EMT) in the coming months once it completes outstanding requirements under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, including the publication of a white paper.
