Bitcoin broke below $82,000 as sudden selling initiated a sharp unwinding of leveraged bets across crypto derivatives markets. Initial reports from Kalshi and Watcher.Guru showed approximately $120 million in long positions were liquidated in just 15 minutes, while Cointelegraph reported over $123 million in total liquidations within an hour. Kalshi perpetual contracts recorded a drop to $81,154, and exchange spot feeds registered Bitcoin slipping below $81,800.[6][7][3][5][10]

The price drop also pulled down major altcoins. The Block reported that Bitcoin dropped 2.7% to $81,382 alongside a 3.4% decline in Ether to $2,423 and a 4.8% drop in Solana, while analyst Crypto Rover reported Ether falling to $2,450. Trader Saanjana Nikita observed that Bitcoin was rejected near the $84,000 level before falling to an intraday low of $80,800 and rebounding back above $83,000 within hours.[1][8][12]

As the downward pressure rippled across the sector, 24-hour market liquidations escalated from $677 million to more than $810 million, wiping out over 170,000 leveraged accounts according to CoinGlass metrics cited by The Block, Crypto Rover, and Saanjana Nikita. Long positions absorbed roughly 85% of the total losses, totaling between $592.76 million and $694.31 million. The largest individual liquidation recorded was a Binance BTCUSDT order valued at $9.65 million.[1][2][4][5][11][13][12]

bitcoin got rejected at $84k again this morning dropped to $80.8k, then bounced back above $83k within hours. this market moves fast one thing i noticed: the low was $80.8k, higher than the previous low at $80.4k. bulls are still trying, but they're under pressure and the damage? over $800m liquidated in 24 hours. around 85% were longs. nearly 174k traders got wiped out, including one $9.6m position on binance too many people were betting on a move up with leverage before btc had actually confirmed anything i'm not calling this a trend reversal yet. could just be another shakeout before the next move $84k is still the level i'm watching. until btc can close above it, i'd be careful with leverage just sharing what i'm seeing.
