Binance covers $6.3B hack losses from balance sheet and completes proof of reserves
Binance has absorbed roughly $6.3 billion in hack losses directly from its own balance sheet and completed a zero-knowledge proof of reserves verifying 1:1 backing for ten major tokens.

Binance covered the losses from a roughly $6.3 billion security breach entirely using its own balance sheet, avoiding borrowing money, selling assets, or raising capital, according to statements from the exchange and former CEO Changpeng Zhao. Zhao stated that 100% of the funds have been allocated, about 95% of stolen assets have been replaced, and approximately $3 billion remains frozen onchain.[1][2][4][7][8][10]
In a recovery update, Binance confirmed it has completed the zero-knowledge proof for its Oct. 31 proof-of-reserves snapshot. The verification system enables users holding BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD, and ZEC to independently check that their balances are backed at least 1:1. The exchange noted that the remaining 5% of impacted assets consists of less-liquid tokens it is still working to convert and acquire.[3][5][6][9][11]
The platform stated that it expects to begin progressively restoring withdrawals for additional networks and assets on Nov. 3. Binance co-founder Yi He added that another proof-of-reserves snapshot is scheduled for Nov. 4, with zero-knowledge proof generation estimated to take between 40 and 50 hours after completion.[7][9]
