American Airlines Group plans to install SpaceX's Starlink satellite Wi-Fi across its entire mainline fleet of more than 1,000 aircraft starting in 2027, according to announcements and reports on the carrier's connectivity plans. The fleetwide rollout comes as U.S. airlines compete to offer faster in-flight Wi-Fi service to travelers.[1][2][3][4]

The updated plan more than doubles the number of aircraft American Airlines quoted earlier this year, according to Engadget. Commentator Shay Boloor reported that the commitment covers more than 1,030 aircraft and is expected to deliver internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps starting in 2027.[2][5]

The move reflects growing airline adoption of satellite-based in-flight connectivity. According to a post by commentator Mario Nawfal, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines are also adopting Starlink, while rival Delta Air Lines opted for Amazon's Leo satellite internet service.[1][4]

$AAL is doubling its $SPCX Starlink commitment to its entire 1,030+ mainland fleet with speeds up to 1 Gbps starting in 2027. If the first rollout was strong enough to double the commitment then other airlines have more pressure to match the experience which is how Starlink starts becoming standard for in flight connectivity.
