AMD projects data centers to drive over 80% of revenue by 2027 amid weak PC market

AMD CEO Lisa Su expects data center business to generate over 80% of the company's revenue in 2027, contrasting surging server demand with a planned double-digit decline in PC shipments.

AMD CEO Lisa Su announced that data centers are projected to make up more than 80% of AMD's total revenue in 2027, according to updates shared by market analysts and media outlets. The company anticipates data center revenue will more than double in 2026 compared to 2025, with growth accelerating in the fourth quarter, and expects server revenue to double again in 2027. Su noted that AMD now forecasts company-wide revenue to increase by more than 80% in 2027, exceeding earlier long-term growth targets.[2][3][8][7]

The company projects the broader server CPU market will expand by roughly 50% annually over the next three to four years, reaching an estimated $220 billion by 2030. Su stated that anticipated growth in server CPU revenue is primarily driven by unit volume and core counts rather than average selling prices. On the product side, AMD began shipping its new EPYC 'Venice' server processors in the third quarter, with the first partner systems slated to arrive in the fourth quarter.[1][2][4][6]

The surge in data center operations contrasts with headwinds in client hardware. A transcript shared by Wall St Engine shows Su warning that PC sell-through slowed late in the third quarter as elevated memory and component costs weighed on demand. Consequently, AMD is preparing for PC market unit shipments to drop by a double-digit percentage in 2027, while managing inventory by aligning sell-in with sell-through.[5][9]
